About the Chamber

Welcome to the White River Valley Region of Vermont!

We hope you’ll take a few minutes to explore our site and see what our area has to offer.

Like most chambers, our primary focus is to work for the benefit of our members, promoting the region and making the White River Valley the best place to live, work and explore. To that end, everything we do is geared towards:

  1. Encouraging people to frequent our many locally owned independent businesses.
  2. Helping our members market and promote their businesses locally and regionally through a variety of opportunities.
  3. Providing access to our members to those who make decision for them in Montpelier.
  4. Promoting responsible economic development and growth.
  5. Making the White River Valley the greatest place to live and work.

Visit our member directory and check out some of our members’ websites. Then come visit us. You’ll like what you see; you’ll like the people you meet; and you’ll like what we have to offer. And who knows…you might even end up being a neighbor.

Small Towns BIG Heart!

This is a region of 11 small towns filled with many wonderful places to recreate, live and work. Here you will find rolling hills, red barns and many Holstein dairy cows, but you will also find much more. This is a region of people with big smiles, big hearts, and big ideas. It is where “Man with a Plan” Fred Tuttle lived, and Justin Morgan raised his Morgan horse. It is home to artists who create, manufacturers who produce, chefs who cook and farmers who grow. It is home to people who heal, educate, and nurture, and those who serve, build and engineer. It is the ideal place to enjoy the great outdoors the way it was intended to be enjoyed – completely unspoiled.

If you are here to vacation, we welcome you to ride our bike trails, swim in our crystal clear rivers, hunt in our vast forests, climb our green mountains and snowmobile on our fourth class roads. Or perhaps a scenic road trip down Route 100 is more your style while you catch the splendid views and stop at local waterfalls for photo opportunities. You can also shop our unique art and gift shops for a special handmade memento of your trip, and stop at our local farms to buy some of the best maple syrup in the world.

If you are looking to relocate, you couldn’t pick a better place to live or work. The White River Valley is home to Chandler Center for the Arts, Yankee Magazine’s 2013 “Editor’s Choice” Best Music Hall in their guide to New England, and G.W. Plastics, the 2013 Deane C. Davis Outstanding Business of the Year award winner. Our community medical home, Gifford Medical Center, is one of the “Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals” in the nation, as well as one of the 39 best Nursing Homes in the country as awarded by U.S. News and World Reports. Vermont Technical College is ranked 10th among the Top Public Schools in the Regional Colleges of the North by U.S. News & World Report.

The White River Valley region is where beauty and business integrate seamlessly without detracting from the natural landscape. It’s the Vermont you want to be part of and I hope you enjoy your time here.
